Lions Swim Team Makes a Splash in Opening Meet

After a string of canceled meets, the Liberty Christian Lions Swim Team was finally able to travel to Eastern Hancock to participate in their first meet of the year, and they must have been chomping at the bit to get going because they came off the blocks on fire!

The 400 boys freestyle relay (Ben Webb, Markus and Lucas Williams, and Ethan Smith) managed to cut 12 seconds from their time and steal second and secure a new Liberty Christian record of 3:55. The girls 200 relay (Sharilyn McKinney, Trinity Roberts, Isabella Smith, and Madison Schuller) earned 4th earning their team 24 points. Ben Webb had a phenomenal day and secured 1st and 2nd place in his two personal events. Our team of only 7 boys won 2nd overall beating 5 other teams.

Coach Lavonne Roberts said after the meet, ” This first meet gave me incredible hope for the season. To see them cutting this much time this early in the season is hopefully a sign of great things to come. “

The swim team’s next meet was to be tonight at Hagarstown, but it has been postponed due to weather.
