Lady Lions lose In First Round Of Sectionals

The Lady Lions 2019-2020 season was an up and down season at most. From the start, the girls would have a whole new team with only five girls returning from last year’s team. Some of the girls had never touched a basketball. The girls knew it was going to be a long processes.

The Lady Lions started off the season with an overtime victory in their first game. After that the girls would go on a four game losing streak. The Lady Lions would not give up on the season that early with an 38 point win over Riverside on homecoming night.

After a huge win to give the girls momentum. The girls would struggle for a long stretch of the season. The Lady Lions would lose the next 13 games, almost all by double digits. The whole team would lose hope in wining sectionals even one game.

With new changes in the coaching staff, and the return of their starting point guard Irelynd Evans coming back from an ankle injury at the beginning of the season. The Lady Lions had a new hope going into the last stretch of the season.

With the season coming to an end, the girls were wanting to end the year on a positive side. The girls did that, the girls would end their season winning the last three out of four games they played, almost all by double digits. The Lady Lions all thought they could win sectionals and more.

Sadly the girls would not for fill their goals of wining a sectional. The Lady Lions fell to Cowan 45-41. The girls came back from 12 to make it a one point lead for Cowan, but the girls couldn’t get some last shots to fall for them and also just ran out of time. The girls would end their year with a record of 5-19.

All and all the 2019-2020 girls basketball season brought us some high moments and some low moments. With players scoring their first points, injury’s, lost games. The will come out next year hungry for the sectional trophy in February.
