Both Liberty Lions boys basketball teams played Shortridge Blue Devils last night and fell in both. JV played first and lost 44-57. Varsity lost with a score of 44-49. The varsity squad had a nail biting game being tied nearly the whole game, going back and forth for each team. At the end of the first the Lions led 8-7. At the end of the half Lions trailed 20-21. At the end of the third Lions were tied 36-36. With a couple of shots being made in the Blue Devils favor, they took the lead and Lions were unable to regain the lead at the end. ” We had chances at the end to win it, but just couldn’t convert. We turned the ball over too many times in. We did make some headway in our body language that should help us as we move on.” said Coach Jason Chappell after the game.
The boys battled hard. Lions have now played three games and their record is now 1-2 and having played no conference games. Lions battle again this Friday at the Den for Liberty Christian Homecoming. This will be a boys and girls double header with a girls start time of 6 pm. Homecoming festivities will take place between the games. Come out for a night of basketball and support your Lions in the homecoming games. Go Lions!
