The Liberty Christian Lions were predicted by John Harrell’s Indiana High School Basketball website to lose big to the Yorktown Tigers, but instead, they shocked them on Saturday, winning 68-52. Lions Coach Jason Chappell said, “Those predictions don’t really mean anything. I don’t look at those things. Yorktown has beaten New Castle and Pendleton so I knew they would be tough, but our kids did a really good job of sharing the ball.”
Not only did they share the ball, they also shared the points with 4 players in double digits. Christian Nunn led the team with 19. Zion Cook had 13. Cade McCord had 11 and Josh Cabello and Adonis House each had 10. House also had 11 rebounds on the day.
Coach Chappell said, “The season is always a process, Saturday it started to click and we started to see it coming together. ”
The win was the third in a row for the Lions putting them over .500 for the season at 9-8 (2-1). Chappell said, “I think the kids are starting to trust each other and trust what we are doing and that is translating in the court. It is nice to stream together a streak .”
