Lions Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Lions fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-2 loss to Tri on Tuesday. Tri scored on a double by Abi Busby, a single by Taylor Craft, and a single by Zoie Prince in the second inning.

The Lions struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Tri, giving up 12 runs.

Tri pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Busby doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Craft singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Prince singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Tri scored five runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Tri came thanks to singles by Kennedy Peggs and Cheyenne Lee, a triple by Chloe Gentry, and a groundout by Hannah Frost.

Gentry earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Tri. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out 13.

Alayna Thomas took the loss for Lions. She allowed 12 hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one.

Thomas went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lions in hits.

Tri racked up 17 hits on the day. PeggsCraftLeeAnastasia Sorrell, and Gentry all collected multiple hits for Tri.
