Nick Mueller: Lions Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 23-0 loss to Frankton on Thursday. Frankton scored on a single by Andrew Hartley, a single by Ethan Friend, and a single by Ryan Smith in the first inning.

The Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Frankton, giving up 23 runs.

In the first inning, Frankton got their offense started when Hartley singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Lions was a single by Justin Sheets in the first inning.

Brady Waymire got the start for Frankton. He went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Beckham Chappell led things off on the mound for Lions. He allowed five hits and eight runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Sheets and Aidan Smith entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Johnny Harrison and Sheets each managed one hit to lead Lions.

Frankton collected 16 hits. HartleyDylan BerkebileFriendTrevor McCorkle, and Smith each had multiple hits for Frankton. Frankton was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. McCorkle had the most chances in the field with ten.
