Lions Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Lions fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-0 loss to University on Tuesday. University scored on an error and a double by Ben Westerkamm in the first inning.

The Lions struggled to contain the high-powered offense of University, giving up 13 runs.

In the first inning, University got their offense started when an error scored one run for University.

Nate Shatkowski got the start for University. He lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out ten and walking zero.

Ethan Graham was on the hill for Lions. He lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and ten runs while striking out three. Beckham Chappell and Tyler Houk entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

University saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits in the game. WesterkammAlex WashlockDawson Estep, and Ben Ewer each collected multiple hits for University. Westerkamm went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead University in hits. Estep led University with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
