Lions Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-0 loss to Greenwood Christian Academy on Monday. Greenwood Christian Academy scored on a single by Griffin Huizinga, a double by Dane Crick, and a single by Jake Simons in the first inning.

The Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Greenwood Christian Academy, giving up 14 runs.

In the first inning, Greenwood Christian Academy got their offense started. Huizinga singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Lions was a single by Johnny Harrison in the fourth inning.

Huizinga led things off on the mound for Greenwood Christian Academy. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking one.

Tyler Houk toed the rubber for Lions. He went one and one-third innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking one. Beckham ChappellJustin Sheets, and Ethan Graham each contributed in relief for Lions.

Harrison led Lions with one hit in two at bats.

Greenwood Christian Academy collected 12 hits. Payton MaudlinHuizingaColton Crick, and Crick each collected multiple hits for Greenwood Christian Academy. Maudlin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Greenwood Christian Academy in hits. Greenwood Christian Academy was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Simons had the most chances in the field with six.
