Big Week For Lions During Fall Break

Lions had an eventful week over Liberty’s fall break. From a soccer sectional title to three individual cross country sectional titles. Sadly, volleyball could not pull through with a win. Our Lions definitely had a full week of events and battled hard each time.

Lions won their second sectional title in three years on Saturday at 2 pm scoring 1-0 in overtime. Lions played great defense and kept the ball mainly on the offensive end shooting 35 shots. Goalie Tyler Houk had it pretty easy only having six saves. Lions competed hard and finally got a goal, scored by Cade McCord with an assist from Cole Foreman.

It was an exciting game for Tyler Houk since he had his 200th save of his high school career. Cade McCord said, “There isn’t just one person on a team, just because I had the goal doesn’t mean the rest of the team doesn’t deserve credit. This team has improved so much already in the tournament. I can’t wait to go get Liberty yet another trophy.” Lions will play at Marion High School against Lakewood Park Christian School on Saturday 10/19 at 2 pm in the regionals.

Cross Country ran at Pendleton on Saturday at 10AM. Three of the runners, Noah Price, Jordan Armogum, and Cameron Wihebrink will compete in regionals next week.

The Lady Lions had a tough week during fall break. First, they played Frankton for their final home game of the season for the third time this year, losing in three sets, 25-18, 25-17, and 25-16. The Lions had to move on from that loss and get ready to play Daleville for their final game of the season, losing in four sets, 25-19, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21. The team will play Wes-Del in their sectional this Thursday at 6:00 PM.
