Both Lion basketball teams won against Riverside on Friday night for the homecoming games. Varsity girls scored 77-37 and the guys scored 57-46. Both teams had some obstacles to overcome with the competition Friday night, and both teams stood their ground and finished the games strong.
The boys had a somewhat close game especially towards the end of the fourth quarter. Lions were up and then the Argonauts hit a couple threes cutting the game too close for the fans comfort. Lions were quick to regain some momentum, hitting some shots and getting the game back under control. Lions leading scorer was Christian Nunn with 25 points and second leading scorer was Adonis House having 10 points. Lions are now 2-2 for the season.
The girls had an easy blowout win against Riverside. After the girls would put 20 points in the first quarter, the rest of the game would be a landslide for the girls and have control of the game the whole time. This was the highest scoring game of the year for the girls. Lady’s leading scorer was Elena Tufts with 25 points Maddy Harmon with 16 and Mady Rees with 14. The Lady Lions are now 2-4 for the season.
