Softball Sectional Round 1: Lions Clings To Victory As Southern Wells Nearly Erases 4-Run Deficit

Lions got out to a four-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Southern Wells on Tuesday. Southern Wells scored two runs on an error in the seventh inning.

Lions got on the board in the second inning when Alayna Thomas drew a walk, scoring one run.

Thomas pitched Lions to victory. She surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out 12.

Kyla Coffel took the loss for Southern Wells. She went seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out five.

Thomas led Lions with two hits in four at bats.

Kayla Fulton went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Southern Wells in hits.

The Lady Lions will play the winner of Tri-Central vs Wes-Del on Wednesday 5/22 at 7pm in round 2 of the sectional.
