Lions watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 19-1 loss to Lapel on Tuesday. Lapel scored on a error in the first inning, a double by Addie Bailey in the second inning, a single by Ashlynn Allman in the second inning, and a home run by Lily Daniels in the second inning.
The Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Lapel, giving up 19 runs.
Lapel pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Bailey doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Allman singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Danielshomered on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.
Lapel scored nine runs in the seventh inning. Lapel’s big inning was driven by singles by Chloe Bousman, Chloe Tucker, Kylie Rich, and Bailey, a home run by Daniels, and an error on a ball put in play by Allman.
Avery Bailey led the Lapel to victory in the circle. She surrendered one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Lapel tallied 18 hits in the game. Bailey, Rich, Daniels, and Allman each racked up multiple hits for Lapel. Lapel was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Bousman had the most chances in the field with eight.
