Lions Volleyball Falls Short in Sectionals

The Liberty Christian Lions Volleyball team faced tough competition in the first round of sectionals Thursday evening, falling to Wes-Del in three sets, 25-7, 25-14, and 25-16, to end their season at 4-15.

The night started out rough for the Lions as Wes-Del jumped ahead to a 12-0 lead in the first set. The Lions were able to score 5 of the next 6, but it proved to be too little, too late. The second set started much better as the Lions held strong, but Wes-Del proved to still be too much for the Lions and the Warriors finished them off in three. Senior Maddy Harmon said, “In the beginning, we were thinking too much about the end result and not about the process. By the third set, we pulled it together and started playing better, but by then it was too late.”

The other seniors on the volleyball team are Elena Tufts, Alanya Thomas, Danielle Henson, and Kaylen Armogum. Harmon said of her fellow volleyball players, “Even though it didn’t end well, I still enjoyed playing with my teammates and being around them all season. I will miss them!”
